Clearance of dangerous trees, Thornes Park, Wakefield
As part of Wakefield Council’s tree management programme Treesaw was commissioned to remove over 20 dead, dying or dangerous trees in Thornes Park, Wakefield to maintain public safety. Daily site specific risk assessments were undertaken and during the work public safety was ensured by using dedicated sentries, signage and barrier tape.
Where site characteristics allowed trees were felled from ground level while the remaining trees were sectionally dismantled using arboricultural rigging techniques. This was done to prevent damage to features such as existing structures, retained trees and footpaths. Branchwood was chipped back into the woodland or removed off site for later use as mulch by Wakefield Council and a selection of large timber was left onsite for habitat piles.
